An old car engine that’s come to the end of its lifespan can still provide an important service – and can earn you a bit of extra money in the process. At Wilton Recycling, we provide a full car engine recycling service throughout Cavan and the local surrounding areas.

We perform engine recycling as part of our vehicle recycling service – available to customers in Cavan and the local surrounding areas. But even if you just have a single engine to dispose of, we’ll be happy to take it off your hands and process it through our recycling facility.

Car & Vehicle Depollution

The first steps we take when we bring a scrap car into our County Cavan processing facility is to perform a thorough vehicle depollution service to remove any harmful or environmentally hazardous materials which may still be left behind. It’s a vital stage which we handle with complete care and precision every time.

Our experienced teams remove any and all hazardous materials they come across in a safe and efficient manner. Once these materials have been verified as removed, the car is then prepared for recycling, where we can begin recovering the variety of metals found throughout.

Some of the hazardous materials we find during the car depollution process include:

  • Lead-acid batteries
  • Tyres
  • Oils and fuel
  • Petrol tanks
  • And more

To find out more about our depollution and end of life vehicle recycling services in Cavan or to arrange a scrap car collection in and around Ireland, simply get in touch with us today.

Vehicle Wiring Loom Recycling

Your car’s wiring loom – or wiring harness – plays a pivotal role in power distribution for your vehicle electrics. What you might not know is that this component also contains some precious metals which can be recovered during the recycling process.

Instead of sending your wiring looms to landfill, send them to the Wilton Recycling processing facility where we perform vehicle wiring loom recycling to the highest standards.

Whether you’d like to bring your wiring to us or arrange for us to collect it from you, we offer competitive rates to take it off your hands.

To find out more about our vehicle recycling and WEE recycling services available across Ireland, or to arrange off-loading your vehicle wiring to us, simply contact our friendly team today.

Certificate of Destruction (CoD)

A Certificate of Destruction (CoD) is the official document that proves your car or van has been permanently scrapped and removed from the National Vehicle and Driver File. It can only be issued by an authorised treatment facility that holds the correct end‑of‑life vehicle permits.

You need a CoD because it formally ends your legal responsibility for the vehicle, so you are no longer liable for tax, insurance, fines or any future misuse of it. It also confirms the vehicle will be depolluted and dismantled safely, with hazardous fluids and components removed and the remaining materials properly recycled.

Wilton Recycling operates fully licensed authorised treatment facilities, so you receive a valid CoD and can be confident your vehicle is deregistered and recycled to high environmental standards. The process is simple: bring your intact end‑of‑life vehicle and registration documents, and Wilton Recycling handles the paperwork, issues your CoD and takes the car through the full depollution and recycling process.

How It Works

1: We Collect or You Drop off

Book a collection from your home, yard or workplace, or bring your vehicle directly to a Wilton Recycling authorised treatment facility where you will be issued a Certificate of Destruction (CoD).

2: Depollution

Specialist technicians safely remove all fluids, batteries and hazardous parts, complying with strict end‑of‑life vehicle regulations and environmental standards.

3: Recycle

The depolluted shell is dismantled and shredded so metals and reusable parts are recovered, reducing landfill and feeding new manufacturing.
